Patapon PPSSPP ISO Download – Patapon is a 2007 video game co-developed by Pyramid and Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). This game’s unique genre is described as a combination of rhythm and strategy.
The game’s concept and design was conceived when game designer Hiroyuki Kotani came across the Patapon design from French artist Rolito’s personal website. The name Patapon was created by Rolito and was inspired by an old French word meaning “children”. Kotani chose the name because it sounded similar to marching and drumming. The game was released in Japan in December 2007 and in February 2008 for North America and Europe.
In the gameplay, the player acts as an invisible god to a tribe of anthropomorphic eyeballs known as the “Patapon” who can be ordered to move forward, attack, defend, and retreat using a sequence of drum beats. The story follows the Patapon tribe on their journey to reach Earthend and stare at “IT”. They encounter giant beasts and an enemy tribe known as Zigoton who stand in their way throughout their adventure.
Gameplay Patapon PPSSPP
In Patapon, players assume the role of a god worshiped by an army of anthropomorphic eyeballs known as the Patapon. Patapon Village serves as the main hub, allowing players to revive fallen troops, choose missions, and play minigames. Prior to each mission, players can select up to three different units to battle with a banner-wielding Hatapon as the unit leader.
There are six units to choose from: Tatepon who wields a shield and sword, Yaripon who wields a spear, Yumipon who wields a bow and arrow, Kibapon who wields a cavalry spear, Dekapon who wields a heavy mace, and Tuba who wields a Megapon. Each unit can have a maximum of three or six troops depending on the type.
During missions, the player can command the Patapons by entering a specific order using the face buttons on the PSP, each representing a drum. This sequence can order the tribe to move forward, attack, defend, and other actions. The pulsing border signals the player at what rhythm to enter the command.
Successfully entering the proper sequence in sync with the rhythm will cause the tribe to go “Fever” increasing their attack and defense bonuses. Fever can be achieved by keeping a combination of 10, or achieved earlier if the combination is 3 or higher and the commands are executed in perfect sync.
If the player stops to command Patapons or enters an off-beat command from a border rhythm, combos and fevers are lost. During a fever, miracles can be performed that affect the weather. Examples include summoning rain to cool the sweltering desert or summoning strong winds to aid Yumipons’ arrow range.
Once a mission is completed, players can return to previous missions to obtain additional resources and equipment to build up their army before larger battles. Materials, weapons, armor, and the currency known as “Ka-ching” can be obtained by fallen enemies to fortify the player’s army. If the Patapon is defeated in battle, they will drop a hat which can be used to revive the Patapon after the mission is completed.
If the cap is not retrieved during the mission, the Patapon will be lost permanently. New Patapon can be crafted in Patapon village using the tree of life and requires Ka-ching and materials such as sticks, stones and twigs. Using rarer versions of those ingredients creates a stronger variant of the Patapon.
